FLATS FISHING/Back country fishing

Experience the Biscayne Bay, Everglades National Park and the various grass flats in between that are full of opportunity.

We primarily sight fish with light tackle rods on shallow water grass flats for tarpon, redfish and permit to name a few.

Yellow Tail Fishing

Yellowtail Snapper are found on the outer reefs in South Florida and the Florida Keys in 40 to 120 feet of water. In yellow tailing we heavily chum with oats and cut up fish to attract the fish to the surface. Occasionally fish like sailfish, mahi and cobia will come into the spread.

reef fishing

Coral reefs in South Florida and the Florida Keys are full of diversity! Some of the fish you can expect to catch include: hogfish, grouper and snapper. We use light 12 to 20 pound gear for these 6 to 30 foot reefs in order to get a steady bite going.

Reef fishing is great for kids or beginners because of the abundance of fish.

LIVE BAITING OFF-SHORE

Primarily during the cooler months from October through April, live baiting is the most successful way to catch pelagics like wahoo, sailfish and tuna. Live baiting is best conducted by slow trolling or kite fishing along the continental shelf in 60 to 300 feet of water. We use 15 to 30 pound gear and our bait of choice is live goggle eyes, ballyhoo and speedos.

Off Shore Mahi Fishing

Mahi fishing is best during the warmer months from April through November. This is a fast-paced fishing experience that involves lots of running to cover ground and look for birds, floating debris and weed lines.

Day-Time Sword Fishing

Sword fishing during the day is a new technique introduced to us in the early 2000's. During the day we catch the gladiator of the sea on the bottom in 1,500 feet of water using electric assisted reels. We also regularly catch mahi mahi while drifting for swordfish.

Additional Types of Fishing

There are even more types of fishing that Tucker uses to fill the box. Because the Gulf Steam is located so close to the shores of the Florida Keys and South Florida, there are numerous types of fishing.

Therefore, typically Tucker will bring many different baits and tackle so you can try a range of things to add variety and to find out what is biting.
